Please email with any questions. 8"by 10" ecru paper with embossed shield, printed by Thomas E Sutton of New York. Printed with a "notice to the hardware trade" from William Wheeler of Poultney, Vermont. Mr Wheeler warns the trade at large that his patented design for candlesticks is being manufactured by unauthorized parties. I found several patents online held by Mr Wheeler but did not find his candlestick design patent. The handwritten portion was sent by Clark Wilson & Co of NYC to a hardware store in Macon, GA. Although the letter is unrelated to the printed notice I think it is likely that Wilson intended that the printed notices would be used by others in the hardware trade. Otherwise, why all the blank space?
