    Description

Up for your consideration is a patent model dated August 30, 1859 being offered for sale in antique condition. The metal and wood show age and wear as pictured. For example the wood has scratches, dings, and other “age spots.”
Please enlarge the photos to determine the overall condition of the patent model.
The patent model is approximately 6 ½ inches wide and about 5 inches at its tallest point. The depth is 4 inches.
The tag attached to the patent model lists the number “25300” as well as the name, “S. Boyden Machine for Hardening Hat” along with the patent date of August 30
    th
    1859.
I did a quick google patent search regarding this patent model but unfortunately the eBay system will not publish this listing with the link included…  but you can go into Google and simply copy the below information below into the search:

There is also a small diagram available for you to see. Please be aware I do not examine the diagrams to ensure all of the original pieces are there but you can…
I sell my patent models as pictured…
HOWEVER- while taking the photos I noticed a couple of things- Please note the following:
There is a crank lever on one side and not the other… I question if there should be one on each side. Additionally, there is an end cap small piece of metal on one side and not on the other. By the way- when I turn the crank nothing exciting happens… that may possibly be due to a missing or not connected string. There is a loose string, initially I thought it was attached to the patent and then realized it was loose. (I put that in an envelope wrapped with the patent. There is a second string just tied to the patent model. I am not sure if these pieces of string could have been used to operate the crank originally. Please be aware that I do not even know if they are long enough to be utilized in that way.
Also, on the side there is a very thin metal piece that is not connected to anything so obviously it was connected to somewhere at some point….
I have already packaged the patent for safe delivery. Double Boxed!
