Antique WOODEN BASE for STOCK TICKER TAPE Machine / EDISON Telegraph WALL STREET
Fresh from a local estate, this auction is for an original wooden base for an antique stock ticker machine. I have been unable to identify the model. An exceptionally RARE piece, certainly worthy of further research.
Top has a groove around the rim, for the glass dome, and a notch for the ticker tape to pass through. various holes on bottom for telegraph wire. there are also 4 small nail holes beneath the ticker tape notch, where it appears a plaque may have been attached at some point.
Base measures 11 5/8" in diameter at top, 12 1/4" in diameter at bottom, and stands 8 5/8" tall. Interior opening measures 8" in diameter.
Extremely heavy, and solid, with a shipping weight of over 16 POUNDS!
In original untouched condition, and sold just as-found, unpolished, with original warm patina. Displays beautifully, with no chip, breaks, repairs. Surface scuffs and scratches, as shown.
Guaranteed to be antique, and not a modern reproduction.
