    Description

This is an original patent issued by the
    Government
of France in the year 1927. This patent is for
    coupling for a tractor trailer.
This patent comes with the complete description of the invention along with technical drawings.
Biography:  Sidney Winn established the Lapeer Tractor- Truck Company in 1917.  He opened a small factory in Lapeer and began producing a 5-ton vehicle powered by a 4-cylinder Wisconsin engine coupled to a heavy-duty three speed transmission equipped with a Torbenson internal gear drive.
In 1920 Winn's outfit was reorganized as the Lapeer Trailer Company. He was now building trailers that featured the unique coupling system he had designed and patented, and built into his truck tractors. This same year, Winn licensed his fifth wheel system to Fruehauf Trailer Co. of Detroit.
    Patent book measures 9¼" x 12½".
