Description

Lot of 2 coin/money sack/canvas bags from Continental Illinois National Bank and Trust Company of Chicago.  The larger bag measures 17 1/2" x 8 1/2" and the other measures 16 1/2" x 7 1/2".   The smaller one is softer and may have been washed.
History:   Continental Illinois National Bank and Trust Company was located at 231 S LaSalle Street, Chicago, IL.  At one time it was the 7th largest commercial bank in the US.  The bank was traced back to 2 Chicago Banks, The Commercial National Bank (founded during the American Civil War) and the Continental National Bank which was founded in 1883.  The 2 banks merged into Continental & Commercial National Bank of Chicago and then changed its name in 1932 to Continental Illinois National Bank & Trust Co.
Unfortunately, the Bank became insolvent in the early 1980's due to bad loans purchased from the failed Penn Square Bank N.A. of Oklahoma.  Most of their assets were in Silver Dollars which may have been kept in these bags.
These bags are an interesting part of banking history in Chicago.  I remember seeing this wonderful old building on LaSalle Street in Chicago in the 1960's and 1970's when I worked on that street.
I am the original owner.  All items have been stored indoors in a smoke free, pet free home.

Please note that there are no refunds or exchanges.  All items are one of a kind and vintage.  If there is a problem, please contact me and I will work with you to make it right.
I will combine shipping.   In order to receive combined shipping, you should put your items in your shopping cart and ask for an updated invoice (there should be a button to do this).   Please note that shipping of multiple items might change the weight of the package and the postage.  I always try to keep postage costs down to save you money.
Some States require sales tax.   I have no control over this as it is added onto the item by E-Bay.  They collect the tax and forward it to your State if applicable.
Please pay within 3 days of receiving an invoice.  If you need additional time, please let me know.
Please note that due to the high volume of packages at the US Post Office, packages are taking longer to arrive.  Some items may not be scanned so tracking may not be updated.   Please be patient and let me know if you haven't received your item within 4 weeks.   I try to keep an eye on the tracking but sometimes things fall through the cracks.
I do not ship to Hawaii, Alaska or internationally, sorry.  I usually ship within 3 days of receiving payment.
