Ahoy, landlubbers! This is a new, sealed Retro 51 "Big Shot" rollerball pen, and yes, you guessed it, it's like a big shot from a big cannon fired from a pirate ship, which never fails to shiver me timbers.
Calico Jack is credited with designing the skull and crossed swords – sometimes swapped for crossed bones – that became the iconic Jolly Roger flag. The English pirate captain, Calico Jack Rackham, operated in the Bahamas and Cuba in the early 18th century and was known for employing women on his crew. The pirate flag of a skull over crossed swords is attributed to him, with the crossed swords representing Anne Bonny and Mary Read, Jack’s female accomplices.
The Big Shot Tornado from Retro51 conjures dreams of adventure on the high seas. The skull and crossing swords (that glow in the dark!) are printed on the black distressed barrel that’s finished with matte varnish and antique silver trim. The top disc shows a golden Spanish Doubloon.
This was a Fahrney’s Exclusive that sold out faster than a swift shove off the plank. The Calico Jack rollerball is numbered and packaged in a custom black tube. Some people use the tube as a pen stand.
