Up for sale is a discovery that probably happens only once in a lifetime. This is a unique double flywheel scratch-built steam engine from the 1800s that has been just discovered in a 100-year-old garage. It was covered in dust and nobody has been running it for many many years. The amazing thing is that the garage was so dry that the engine has never been exposed to moisture and extreme humidity. It was like a time capsule. Nobody knows who made this masterpiece but it is quite possible that it was made by an engineer or an inventor. The workmanship and details are simply fantastic! The maker never used pre-made parts. That was the time when model-making kits were not available. He cast flywheels, base, everything. I can only imagine how back in the day a person can make something like that. I have many tools at home and I would never even attempt to make not only an engine of that size but an engine of any size. I simply do not have such knowledge and skills. In my opinion, this engine might be still in working condition, but because I cannot test it, I am selling it as is. I've carefully inspected the model for any cracks breakages and I did not find any, except a chip of wood in the base, but it does not affect the performance of the engine at all. I've carefully rotated the flywheel and I can see that both wheels rotate 360 degrees and the rods move without any shaking. I can even hear the puff sound in a cylinder. The rotation is stiff and I did not want to push too much because there is no single drop of oil not in a cylinder or on any rods. In order to fully test the engine, I would recommend lubricating moving parts first, and maybe perform some adjustments, tightening, if required. One of the best things in the design of this engine I believe is the fact that the entire base with supports appears to be cast of metal or iron. Probably iron, judging by the engine's age. This provides great stability to the entire model. The weight of this engine model is about 56 lbs. The diameter of a flywheel is 12 1/4". The diameter of the cylinder is about 2 5/8". Just the base is measured 20" by 10". The overall dimensions with protruding parts are 14 1/2" x 23" x 15". I can send this engine anywhere in the world, but the shipping of 0 is for Canadian and USA customers only. Please ask me first for the rate if you live in a different country
. I will make a specially designed box to protect this engine from all sides. I've noticed that the oil caps on the engine come in and out. I will pull them out for safe transportation and mark each one with a piece of paper and a number so you can just slide them back once you receive the engine.
