Up for sale is a fantastic and absolutely unique object from the collection of original patent models. This is one of a kind early patent model submitted by an American inventor JH Latourandais of Virginia two years before Abraham Lincoln submitted his patent in 1849. The invention is a bedstead for invalids designed for homes or early hospitals. This invention is one of the first 10.000 models submitted to the Patent Office for approval. It received patent number 5100. The model has been rescued from the 1877 fire and it is missing some parts and shows some breakages. One brass rod is broken but I believe it could be repaired. I left the model untouched, in the condition it was discovered. Please, see the pictures for details. Figure number 3 on the patent drawing shows clearly the current model without the top part that has been lost. In spite of some missing parts, the model still demonstrates the invention and it is a superb example of American history in a remarkable condition for its age. It is hard to believe, but it was one of the models displayed in the original US Patent Office building erected in 1846! The model will be a perfect addition to any collection or museum. It is about 15 1/2" long, 7 1/2" wide, and about 9 1/4" tall. I can send it anywhere in the world, but the shipping of is for Canadian and USA customers only.
