Up for sale is a superb example of a ship's anchor made by a historical British Somers foundry that also supplied parts for Titanic and other famous ships
. This is the number 4 model of an anchor called "Premier" made in the early 1900s. There were multiple models of Premier anchor made by Somers. I've visited the company's website and found a photo of the year 1910. This could be the year when the company introduced all forged anchors and the current sample could be one of the first salesman samples of the particular model. It is all handmade with the fluke that moves against the shank of the anchor. The sample is made of brass and you can see the remains of silvering or plating. Back in the day, it was very common to create salesman samples with a silver appearance. The anchor shoes signs of wear, some scratches, but it still has all original parts and it has not been restored or repaired. I am selling it in the condition it was discovered in the collection of a person who had a passion for original salesman samples.
